CIMT LOG KEEPING

Use 2 separate logs

We find it much easier to separate the “incoming information” separate from the team’s actions/tasks. The IFRC CIM log contains two sheets/tabs.

  • One “situation/information log” to record all new information the critical incident management team (CIMT) receives. This log should provide a good overview of the incident (who, what, where, when, why etc).

  • One “action log” to track the CIMT’s actions/tasks. This is the team’s “to-do” list.

This approach makes logkeeping easier during the meeting, since the team should start by sharing info (info log) before moving on to actions (action log).

The CIM Team Leader must review the logs daily for accuracy and to ensure they are aware of all incoming information and decisions/actions taken.  A copy of the logs should be downloaded every day to safeguard information.
