What is a Critical Incident?
In simple terms, a critical incident is a serious event that impacts the safety and security of our personnel, assets or operations to the extent that it significantly disrupts or jeopardises the organisation’s ability to operate.
Examples include: Attacks on personnel, mass casualty incidents, kidnappings and civil unrest that put staff and operations at risk. Many other organisations use the term “crisis” or “corporate crisis” for these kinds of serious incidents but we use “critical incident” to avoid confusion with humanitarian type “crises”.
